Post Mortem

Or Facing Life?
When is the beginning of the ending of life? We need to be able to accept a reality that has been imposed by the ability to prolong life. What can be done as opposed to what should be done . . . what qualities of life are a part of this balance? An exceptionally well presented documentary that poses a simple question that has too many answers. What is a 'good death?' Is the concern for the patient or the patient's family? Physicians, surgeons, patients, and families are faced with having to find an answer within a myriad of complexities. To find answers, all aspects of a patient's care are taken into consideration because the answer is an 'unknown.' This has become a dilemma within modern medicine. There isn't a single equation that can be used to determine treatment vs. no treatment. This presentation may be helpful in allowing one to make their own decision. The information is accurate and not over dramatized. Listen carefully and understand the responsibility that we can choose...

Frontline is a necessity
Few other documents of the modern world enlighten viewers as thoroughly or frequently as Frontline. The volume of rigorously collected knowledge in these films is invaluable to the human race.

The best show on TV!
No one else compares.. objective, accurate and timely information on local, national and international issues. My only regret there isn't more.

Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorfs

A Passion For Fashion? Check Out This Breezy Profile Of New York's Most Iconic Department Store
Being someone who watches documentaries about every conceivable subject, I like to speculate about how much cross-over appeal a movie might have. Some documentaries strike such a universal chord, they can be embraced by a diverse array of viewers. Others may have a more specialized allure. Matthew Miele's "Scatter My Ashes At Bergdorf's" might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is practically essential entertainment if you follow fashion and/or if you're a shopping enthusiast. Profiling New York's legendary department store Bergdorf Goodman, this star studded affair is a veritable who's who of the fashion world. From designers to celebrity clientele, dozens upon dozens of well known personages weigh in on what has made this shopping destination such an iconic and elite spot.

It would be virtually impossible to rattle off the names of every contributor to this project, but here's a sampling of some of the bigger ones: Designers include Giorgio Armani, Michael Kors, Manolo...

Love it. A Behind the Scenes Look at the Richest Department Store in History
The fabled Department Store Bergdorf Goodman is profiled here, and this is a behind the scenes look at it, and it is fascinating. If you love fashion, as I do, and labels, as I do, you will LOVE this video. I've shopped there before, and had personal shoppers before, but had NO IDEA the amount of money they make, nor the amount of money these big moneyed customers drop at a single shopping trip (amazing!). If you're fascinated by the uber-rich and their world, you will eat this UP.

All I could vision were gowns and gowns...
And was delighted to learn the business side of Bergdorf's. An interesting insight to those of us who live too far to really experience. I mostly enjoyed the history and the older photographs etc. What a great store...it is my dream to visit. And yes, please do 'Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's.'

The Conspiracy

As Advertised
I watched the trailer for the film and was intrigued and saw that it would be released on the internet within a few weeks so I made note of it and moved on. Today I saw an ad on another site for the trailer again and after watching the trailer again I was still interested so I decided to give it a watch.

First off I will say I enjoyed the film, and I think if you watched the trailer and you were interested in the movie based on the trailer you will enjoy it. If you watch the trailer and it does nothing for you then skip it, because it is exactly what it promises to be. I even thought that the trailer would be a bit misleading and it would be bad, but it wasn't. If you want over the top action, a roller coaster ride of thrills, or out and out suspense this isn't going to quench your thirst for those things.

Do not get me wrong, it has it's moments. There are a few twists and turns, but overall it is what you want it to be after seeing the trailer. It is well made,...

A for effort
While this movie was cheap, cheesy and predictable, I still found it entertaining. It missed the mark in many ways, but it hit a bulls eye on some of the cool documentary-like scenes when the two young film makers crashed a retreat from the elite one-world ruling class.

I liked the betrayal -- you have to watch to understand. All in all, it was worth a look.

One Of the Better of the Genera
Found footage and faux documentary films are over done and seem like an easy way out for lazy filmmakers who can't tell a compelling story or develop interesting characters, still some are better than others. "The Conspiracy" is one of the better ones. Like "Lunopolis" the found footage is interspersed with interviews from "experts," and, disturbingly, real footage from world events we'll all recognize, giving the documentary an authentic feel. It feels like a documentary. It's also disturbing and creepy, and feels like a slow burn thriller.

The filming was expertly done and the music... WOW! The music was impressive, especially the music for the ceremony scenes. I was surprised to read on IMDB that the composer hadn't scored many films. Well, his music captured the mood and character of this film well.

The Canucks can mark one in the "win" column over this movie. If you enjoy found footage or conspiracy themed thrillers then you will probably enjoy The...

The Servants Revolt

More than a period drama or reality tv
I enjoy Upstairs Downstairs type dramas and was interested in a realistic look at the early 20th century. In this series, one family takes the role of the wealthy family living in a manor house for 3 months. 12 volunteers become their servants. They all live as close as possible to the rules of that time. This was very interesting because the participants bring 21st century views into the 1914 lifestyle. It is a difficult adjustment for most of the them. A former servant's visit and stories about relatives that were in service add authenticity. For me, the series brought to life the unique struggles of the different social statuses in that society. It also made me consider that many of the "freedoms" and "rights" of today were not available to everyone just 100 years ago.

Manor House
I was drawn in by this project. There is so much history and information given. I was somewhat disgusted by the way some of the participants acted. It shows how very spoiled we are in this day and age by all the conveniences that we have. It caused me to look at my own life to see what my work ethic is and if I am really appreciative of all that I have at my disposal.

Worth watching
I like the concept of the younger generation getting to know what the history of roles was like back when their ancestor's lived it. Looking forward to see how the series plays out.

King of the Streets [Blu-ray]

A rebel with too many flaws
Yue Song is the writer, director, action director, and editor of "The King of the Streets." He's obviously taking a Jackie Chan-like approach with this film, which is also probably a project that's very close to his heart. Unfortunately, "The King of the Streets" is nothing to boast about.

As you can likely already foresee, "The King of the Streets" wants to wow you with action over everything else. The story is lacking in every sense of the word. It's extremely cliché and predictable; a reformed rebel trying to turn his life around is sucked by into the world he tried to leave behind. The film also repeatedly references Bruce Lee not only in name but in presentation as well as "The King of the Streets" makes it a point to constantly re-use and or re-imagine the Japanese school fighting scene from "The Chinese Connection."

You begin to question the logic Feng has, as well. Who in their right mind would confidently walk up to 85 guys with weapons and try to...

Good
This movie is a good movie. Keeps your attention and the storyline was great. I was really impressed with this movie.

Good Movie
Typical story of a boy who becomes a man and after spending some time in prison becomes better than bruce lee..

Idont know about all that but was a pretty sound story even though the fighting looked like a wiff a wheel .. you know people going in a circle and swiping a bat at the hero untill its their turn.

still tho i liked it.
